Harris Is Spending Her Inheritance

U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris has said she will spend $10 million of her own money in her campaign to win the post of incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (FL). This was the inheritance left to her by her father. It makes a body wonder how rich is the Senate seat and how much will this lady have left to devote to serving the needs of her native state. Since she has declared that she will not own anything, once the $10 million is gone, will she then be a Citizen like the rest of us, pinching pennies to buy gas and pay bills and keep our homes insured. And what father would want to see his fortune spent on politicking.

To the ordinary Citizen, the buying of a political office, the squandering of $10 million, to gain power and prominence is not what this country was ever about. The basic integrity of the election system is at risk.
